Tea. Butterflies. Dresses made just for twirling. Princess sightings. …and this gorgeous girl.  How I spent my morning…and pretty perfect it was.

Happy weekend all!

A random shot from the beach today, but apparently the boy’s got a message! :)

…we were in Target yesterday. Michael stood in the toy aisle for what seemed like forever trying to decide between two new transformer toys.  He kept voicing how he really wanted both of them, but knew we would not cave and so went back and forth and so on and so on.  I never press him to hurry.  I know in his little brain decisions like this are important and I want him to have time to sort it out.  I’m also incredibly indecisive myself so I get it!  He finally settled on Optimus Prime. :)  As he was putting the other toy back, he said, “…but there’s just so many new guys that I want!”  Brady and I laughed, but then really thinking about it I said, “You know what honey? There are things I want too, but I have everything I need.”  And I do.  Michael, being wise beyond his years said, “…because you have me and Daddy and the new baby?”  Precisely so sweet boy….

I have not taken a lot of pictures of Michael lately and owe the grandparents some new pictures so we went out to a corner I fell in love with in our neighborhood.  I love that door and it makes me happy every time I walk past it.  Michael loves it too.  The child also loves his aviator glasses.  I’m pretty sure it’s because Daddy has the matching pair and he pretty much mimics everything Daddy does. Probably why he’s a six year old living inside of a 34 year old body too.  These images make me happy because they are so Michael. He’s sensitive and likes to observe the world, but he’s also incredibly crazy and silly and the happiest boy I know!

We love to love you Mr. Mikey…

I got to play with this little love all night…one of those sessions where you come home and want to edit all of images right away.  We shot at the most beauuutiful location. …and on the way home there were hundreds and hundreds of fireflies that lit up the summer sky.  I had a smile on my face and a whole lotta happy in my heart.

I can’t wait to share more of this session soon…

….so things have been a wee bit crazy around here lately.  Well, a lot crazy actually. I turned 30. Got engaged. Found out we’re expecting. Got married. …and now we’re moving.  All of this smack dab in the middle of my busy season.  It should really come as no surprise though. Brady and I both thrive on chaos.  There truly never is a dull moment.  I should also tell you that I don’t tend to follow the norm.  I’m not a down home traditional girl who plays by the rules.  As a matter of fact, I’m not a fan of rules so much and am always trying to find alternate ways of doing things.  Soooo, the past couple of months we have just flown by the seat of our pants and it’s been pretty amazing. We are over.the.moon for this new person we have created. Michael is ecstatic to be a big brother and Brady can’t wipe the smile off of his face when talking about our family expanding from three to four.  I’ve already been busy planning for our new nursery and stocking up on baby clothes! :) Needless to say it’s been such an amazing time in our lives and I really do feel truly blessed. I am so happy with where we’re at as a family and I’m counting down the days until our new cherub arrives in January. (We’re shooting for New Years Day!)

With all of the happenings in our family lately, I have really had to step back and take a look at my schedule.  Although I tried, my travel schedule didn’t dwindle much from last year.  Now, it needs to.  So with this, my final Minnesota sessions will be the last weekend of August – the 26th, 27th, and 28th.  I will not be doing Minnesota sessions for 2012.  I have a lot of amazing people that I love in Minnesota and I want our visits home simply be to do just that – to visit and enjoy.  For those of you who were on the Minnesota wait list, I have e-mailed you to set up session times.  For those of you interested, please e-mail as soon as possible as I will only be scheduling a limited number of sessions for that weekend.   I will, however, be continuing client sessions in both Milwaukee and Chicago per usual!

…and since I think photography is an art and an investment – one that should be based on quality and talent, I do have a list of photographers that I adore in Minnesota that do amazing work.  They are not only super talented, they’re incredibly sweet as well.   There are a ton, and I do mean a ton of people coming out with “photography businesses”.  Just because someone has a “fancy camera” and a blog does not mean they take good pictures. Take time to do your homework and find someone who truly fits your style. I would rather save my pennies for a professional photography session than pay next to nothing for less than mediocre pictures…just as I would rather go to the salon to have my hair done than doing it myself at home or as I would pay someone to design and build my website rather than do it myself. It’s all the same.  I always say, “There’s a cheap way to do things and a right way.”  Sometimes the right way takes a bit longer, but it pays off in the long run.

If you’re in the Minneapolis area Jess Sandager with Olive Avenue Photography is your girl! Take a look at her rich, vibrant tones and the way she captures people. Her latest session on her blog makes me swooon.

If you’re in the Waseca area, Jennifer Nace is my hometown girl.  She works magic with her newborn shoots! As a matter of fact I think she’s a baby whisperer.  Gorgeous gorgeous newborn images, but she does it all.

If you’re in the Rochester area, you need to see Sarah Field. I have photographed her family twice now and she is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She captures the world just as she sees it – simple and organic. Love.

I feel so confident in each and every one of these artists and know you will be well taken care of!

A big thank you to all of my Minnesota clients. I have loved photographing each and every one of you. Perhaps when the babe is bigger I will be back!

I do have a few new projects I will be working on so will continue to keep you all posted!

…and no this picture really has nothing to do with this post except for the fact that I’m obsessed with peonies and thought it was cute how two of the flowers were big and one hadn’t bloomed yet. :)

Much Love,
