I will admittedly say that the part of my business that guilt trips me the most is seeing an inbox full of e-mails with photography related questions.  I do try my hardest to answer each and every question, but sometimes it’s not enough.  I have had many people ask if I would be willing to sit with them face to face and go over the many facets of photography.  I have pondered it for quite some time, but a crazy schedule last year allowed me no time for anything other than focusing on my sessions.  Now that I have revamped my way of doings this year, it has opened up my schedule to allow more time for other avenues I’ve wanted to dance through.

However, I think there is so much more to photography than just picking up a camera and pushing a button.  I also think there is more to photography than seeing someone else’s work and copying it.  While thinking about how I wanted to develop my mentoring sessions, I had to peel back the layers and figure out what it was that I wanted to convey to people.  Technical aspects? Of course.  But there is so much more.  I really want people to see their photos in a different way.  I want people to pick up their camera and create.  I want their art to be their own and more so to be something they’re proud to put their name on.  This is something I’m so passionate about.  A long time ago I realized that I was only happy with my work when I stayed true to myself…when I captured the vision I had in my head and let it awaken.

I’m exceptionally excited to have my first official You & Me session with a photographer flying in all the way from Canada! I cannot wait to meet her and dive into this session together.  If you would like more information on the You & Me sessions, I have added a tab on the Menu bar above with session details.  If you have any specific questions, I am more than happy to answer. Sabrena has gone by the nickname of “Beaner” or “Bean” since she was born.  ”Beaner” was a name my father gave to her when she was a baby and it stuck. She rarely goes by her actual birth given name.  It’s pretty much always Bean.    My brother and my beauty of a niece came to visit us this weekend in Milwaukee.   If there is one thing I do not like about living in Milwaukee, it’s being so far away from my family. I miss out on a lot and explainedly so, it tugs at my heart strings. When my family makes the long trek to see us, it makes me incredibly happy.  The last time Sabrena was here was two and a half years ago with my parents. It was a beautiful weekend and the last time I saw my father.  For that very reason, I wanted to make this weekend extra special for her.  The boys decided to take advantage of the nice weather and set out to Chicago to golf.  We, on the other hand, had a girls day and had some plans of our own.  We chatted for hours over coffee (an Izze for her), went rock climbing, shared subs and old fashioned root beer, went to the movies, bought huge homemade caramel apples, and sat in the sun at the beach…something we have not been able to do for the past six months. It put huge smiles on both of our faces.  Even though my camera is completely smitten with her, Sabrena is not a huge fan of having my lens pointed at her.  However, when she grabbed my sunglasses and put them on her face, she must’ve channeled her inner 70′s child and away we went.  I love these image of her because they will always remind me of this weekend.   She is truly growing up and even though she’s my niece, she’s also one of my best friends. Life is just so much sweeter with her in it.

I traveled home to Minnesota this past weekend to help my mama celebrate her birthday.  Part of our birthday celebration was meeting the newest member of our family, little Miss Sydney.  She is an absolute doll and was such a good baby. She slept the entire time and finally peeked her eyes open for the last shot.  I will also admit that I was a baby hog and had a tough time sharing her with anyone else.   Although, since it was my mom’s birthday, I did give her a few turns. :)  I also love that Sydney’s Grandma, my Auntie Sue, brought her vintage quilt for us to use.  It was the perfect backdrop for a beautiful baby girl.  Sydney’s hat was also handmade by Miss Lynn of beberagz.  I had her customize the little gnome hood in soft pastel hues and adore the way it turned out!

…sigh. Forget Bieber Fever people…I’ve got Baby Fever!

Many of you have been asking where I’ll be this summer. Well, I’ll be all over!  I have limited my Minnesota sessions this year simply due to time so if there’s a date you’re interested in, please e- mail me at krysta@krystamanthe.com to reserve your session date.   I will, of course, be in Milwaukee in between my travel schedule so for those of you in Milwaukee no worries!  I have added a tab on the menu bar above for a reference point and will update date as I go along.  I have not even gotten around to August and beyond yet as there are a few things that I need to finalize.  However, I will be e-mailing those of you who have requested August and September sessions as soon as I have those dates.  Also, there is a chance that I will be in New York in the upcoming months.  If anyone is interested in a session, please e-mail me at the e-mail address listed above or go here.  I will be opening up my schedule for 1 – 2 sessions.
