We didn’t need to pay for entertainment this weekend. It came free in the form of a three foot nine inch five year old boy who seems to have his own take on the world.
** Friday night: 7:30 pm. I am putting Mikey’s shoes on as we are getting ready to go meet friends. He is sitting on our bed looking at the cross hanging above our light switch…
Mikey: (Pointing) “That looks like a sword.”
Me: “Yes, honey. That does look like a sword, but it’s not. It’s a cross. Do you remember who died on the cross for us?”
Mikey: “Yes. Michael Jackson.”
Me: (After catching my breath again) “No silly. Not Michael Jackson. Jesus!”
Mikey: (With hands out and not very pleased…as if this just happened and we’ve been holding out on telling him) “JESUS?! When did he die?”
We’ve confused the poor child. We just went over how Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and now we’ve gone and told him that he died and on a cross no less. We’ve got a ways to go yet I think.
** Friday night: 9:15 pm We are driving home from meeting friends out for dessert. Brady and I are talking about buying and selling houses and how people have lost money.
Mikey: “What do you mean people lost money?”
Brady: “Good luck trying to explain that to a five year old.”
Me: ” Ummm Mikey, sometimes people buy a house and when they sell it they don’t get as much money as they paid for it. SO, that means they lose money.”
Mikey: “Yeah but you can always find money because ladies are always dropping quarters out of their purses.”
… to live in that child’s mind for a day. I seriously adore every ounce of him. Every.Single.One.
I waaaaassss going to post these before I left for my trip. Umm…I didn’t. So, I present you the rest of Owen and Claire’s mini home session.
…and I couldn’t wait to post until tomorrow because that image of the random number generator is just not pretty enough for my eyes. I’m writing to them now to request a pink, shabby one for next time. Seriously.

Miss Kelly was my magnificent assistant for a shoot on Saturday morning. I picked her up extra early so we could sit and chat over coffee before going to the shoot. If you were at the Starbucks on Mayfair Road early on Saturday morning, I do apologize for the loud noise and laughter levels coming from the corner. :)
When we had wrapped up the session, we didn’t want the day to end so we decided to go out for lunch and do a bit of boutique shopping.
…and the most beautiful part of the day? The sun. It seems that it has not shown itself much lately and I thrive on sunshine. But it did that day. People everywhere came out of the woodwork to enjoy it. I stood outside with my eyes closed letting the sun hit my face. I couldn’t have been happier. It seems as though all one needs is a little bit of sun.
And Kelly, well the girl is sunshine herself and she’s a got a whole lotta soulshine too. ..
