Jake showing is Kung Fu moves…he has some major air going….

…showing his Elvis impersonation…

Miss Maggie: one of my favorites.

Soooo, crazy story. Last year we hired Jim at our radiology firm. I had no idea who he was. Kelly had conversed with him very briefly through e-mail. When I asked her what he was like, she shrugged her shoulders and said, “Sounds really funny.” She proceeded to show Jim my blog and he instantly recognized Brady. They had gone to school together and had a mutual group of friends. Thus it all began. Kelly and I found out Jim was indeed very funny. Like so funny we often end up with tears on our cheeks from laughing so hard. Brady and Jim began doing what guys do apparently…making fun of one another through e-mail. I got to hear about said e-mail ramblings at home and at work…lucky me. Then Jim brought his family into our office and Kelly and I spent days talking about how pretty his wife was and how cute his kids were. So, of course, as you do, we scheduled a shoot. We talked about it last summer actually, but our schedules were all kinds of crazy. So, finally, after all this time, Brady, Mr. Michael, and myself went out to the casa de Newlin. They have a gorgeous property and being the urbanites that we are, it was so nice to sit out there in the peace and quiet and just enjoy. Per usual Newlin performance, I spent the entire time laughing while Brady stood behind me with commentary of his own. The shoot was completed by Jake and Michael having a Star Wars battle and an amazing dinner prepared by Jim and Dana. I asked Brady and Michael if they had a fun night. Per Brady: “Jim can cook a mean steak!” Per Michael: “Jake is my best friend. I wanna move into that house.” Pretty much sums it up doesn’t it?

Newlin family…your sneak peek! Enjoy!

While Daddy went golfing today, Michael got spoiled. I’m not at all shocked by this. Anytime one of us is gone, the other makes it a point to have special one on one time with him. I asked him what he wanted to do and he replied with getting a blueberry muffin and apple juice at Starbucks and then picking out a new Star Wars book. Done.
This is the second coffee for me all week. I am not allowing myself to have it during the day as the amount of caffeine I was putting into my body was more than I was comfortable with. So it was a special little treat for me today and even more special that Michael sat across the table and sang to me the whole time. You name it, he sang it. Anything from his ABC’s to Kanye West. The child loves music and nneeevvveerr stops singing. I’m pretty sure we were those annoying people in the corner that disturb everyone who came there to enjoy their morning coffee and relax, but whatareyagonnado? Who am I to pass up a four year old chorus…music to my ears…

Today was a mighty good day…I got my new camera! I had a little extra bounce in my step as we walked out of the camera shop. Brady and Mikey were even excited. Brady moreso I think because he got to go next door to Golf Galaxy afterwards and Michael because he got to hit up the toy store on the way home for being a good boy at both places.
So, when we got home, I exercised self restraint. We ate lunch. I cleaned. I organized photography files while my pretty lil’ camera sat charging. And as soon as I saw the battery was ready to go I grabbed Michael in his new Paul Frank hoodie (from Target) which I happen to adore and we headed outside for some test shots. Of course Michael wouldn’t be Michael if he didn’t display crazy faces every other shot, but I love them just the same.
I gotta say, I think we’re going to get along juuuust fine, this new little camera and I….

Happy Weekend!

…when life hands you lemons…. :)

(Look at those eyes! …some of the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen on a child – beauuutiful!)

Amelia’s mommy and I were laughing so hard when she did this. She was sitting and then just plopped over and stuck her butt in the air. I wish you could see her face…her head was facing forward…a little flexible this one!

Love her outfit below. Her mommy got it at Boutique Bebe here in Milwaukee. Adore that store and wish they had a website. :(

…a little army crawling to get to where you need to go…

One of my favorite shots from her session. This rocking horse belonged to Amelia’s daddy when he was a little boy. Her great-grandfather made it so it has quite a history. I love when I get to use things that carry great meaning in my shoots.

What a shoot! Amelia’s mommy, Joanna, called me while I was out of town wanting to schedule a session. They actually live in California and were here visiting family. Luckily for us, I had an open day in my calendar before they headed back home. Unlucky for us, mother nature had a different plan. An hour after we started storms rolled in and it started downpouring. However, Miss Amelia was nothing but smiles during the hour we were able to shoot. It also helped that her mommy had a ton of cute clothes and props to use. I’m so happy that I was able to meet this gorgeous girl and her gorgeous mommy (..and we can’t forget Grandma. She was there to provide baby entertainment!)

Joanna, thank you so much for inviting me over to your family’s gorgeous home and allowing me to play with Miss Amelia. Your pictures are almost finished and on their way to California!

Much Love,
Krysta
